HAMILTON – There’s a new scam making the rounds in the Bitterroot Valley.
The Hamilton Police Department says they received several reports on Wednesday morning of a phony e-mail that’s being sent out.
The e-mail says it’s from the Hamilton Police Department regarding the issuance of traffic citations. The e-mail reads “our traffic cameras recorded you running a red light on” and directs folks to pay the fine online.
HPD notes in a social media post that the department does not send out e-mail notification of traffic citations and also doesn’t have traffic cameras.
