HAMILTON — The Bitterroot National Forest is inviting the public to review and make comments on two new proposed trail projects located on the Darby Ranger District.
The non-motorized C. Ben White Trail is a 1¼ mile dirt trail that will provide hiking, horseback riding, and mountain biking opportunities for recreationalists. It will access a network of trails in the upper Hart Bench area. The trail is adjacent to a newly acquired piece of Montana FWP land that includes a fishing access site and developed trailhead.
The motorized Cold Spring Hill Trail is a 4-mile network of closed forest roads that have been converted to trails, along with 3/4 miles of newly constructed connector trails that will be designed and managed for ATV’s and motorcycles. The route provides scenic panoramic views of the Bitterroot Mountains and Trapper Peak.

Public comments specific to this project and/or individual sites and resources are valuable in helping the Forest Service identify concerns and develop alternatives. Comments are due by Feb. 15, 2021.
