HAMILTON — A program which has helped tide people get food during this first phase of the pandemic will be suspending operations this week, after serving more than 5,000 meals.

Family Shelter of the Bitterroot combined the efforts of numerous local churches in Hamilton to serve the meals to anyone who needed the assistance, no questions asked, over the past eight weeks.

The results have been remarkable, with the group serving over 5,000 meals.

It took a lot of hard-working volunteers, but organizers say it wouldn't have been possible without the support of businesses like Super 1 Foods, and Triple Creek Ranch, which were recognized with plaques of honor this past week.

Triple Creek manager David Macllwraith and his staff prepared over 38-hundred of those hot meals for distribution, with Super 1 contributing over 18-hundred.

Wednesday evening will be the last distribution at the Assembly of God Church, then the 11-churches will re-assess when they might be able to resume sit-down meals once more.
