HAMILTON — The Hamilton School District reported its first positive COVID-19 case last week.
During a special school board on Wednesday evening officials addressed the incident and what parents can expect moving forward.
Ravalli County Public Health was made aware of the positive COVID case on Friday and by Monday, they had notified all of the confirmed close contacts.
Moving forward, the process will look the same. For confidentiality reasons, details on the confirmed case’s grade level, class, or anything of that nature will not be released, but the school will work quickly to notify families of the case.
If they see more confirmed cases, which they’re expecting, they’ll need substitutes to fill in for those staff members quarantining.
"So I'm going to make a plea that if you’d like to sub we could certainly use you right now. And it’ll help us stay open," Hamilton Schools Superintendent Tim Korst said. "Even if it’s not something you’re doing for money, and maybe it’s sort of a calling and you want to help out, we can use your help."
There’s some incentive if you’re thinking about applying; after 10 days of subbing -- including half-days -- you’ll get a $200 bonus.
