POLSON – 9-1-1 texting abilities are now available in Lake County.
According to the Lake County Sheriff’s Office’s Facebook page, folks should only text 911 for emergency situations when needing response from police, fire or EMS.
The LCSO says 911 texting is helpful if a voice call would endanger the caller.
Texting is also crucial for those with medical conditions where the caller cannot speak.
However, the LCSO stresses the importance of calling from a landline when you can. Landlines provide a more accurate location and can indicate more about the situation and caller’s environment.
