MISSOULA — Missoula Fire Chief Jeff Brandt says the department is weathering its outbreak of COVID-19, with no loss in fire and emergency coverage.

Missoula Fire Department has had to make some adjustments this past week with 5-firefighter/EMTs testing positive for the coronavirus, forcing other personnel to be quarantined.

The department had already been operating under enhanced safety protocols since the start of the pandemic, and Brandy is reassuring residents firefighters are continuing to use full personal protective equipment as they respond to every call.

"We're still really good on coverage and our folks are pulling extra shifts and some extra duties and making sure we have the right people in the right place," said Missoula Fire Chief Jeff Brandt. "Yeah, we're responding appropriately and I believe we've turned the corner and we're getting folks back each day through this week and we're going in the right direction."

Brandt says people can help the fire department by giving complete information to dispatchers when they call for help and answering any additional questions when firefighters are on scene.
