Man killed after being struck by vehicle near Philipsburg ID'd

PHILIPSBURG — Authorities have released the name of the man who died after being struck by a vehicle on Saturday near Philipsburg.

Granite County Sheriff Scott Dunkerson says that Robert Franklin Driver, 75, of Churchville, Virginia died as a result of blunt force injuries after being struck by a vehicle on Marshall Creek Pass,

The Montana Highway Patrol said that around 6 a.m. Saturday, Driver had exited the vehicle to open a gate after the driver stopped on Secondary Road 348, near Marshall Creek Road west of Philipsburg.

The driver, a 73-year-old Philipsburg man, hit the gas and ran over the passenger. The driver stopped shortly after and was uninjured, according to MHP.
