POLSON — Construction is making significant progress on a new Polson elementary school gymnasium after the old gym suffered severe damage from a snowstorm in 2018.

The 1940’s-era Linderman Elementary school gymnasium was demolished in June of 2019.

Once complete, the new gymnasium will be used for all Polson High School gym athletic events as well as P.E. class for all elementary students.

Originally slated for completion fall of 2020, Polson School District Director of Maintenance Dan Giles said the gym is now expected to be finished in fall of 2021.

Giles said the new gym sits at 24,507 square feet on the main level with an additional 7,000 square feet on the mezzanine.

He said the new gymnasium will have the ability to seat more than 2,000 occupants.

“Full LED wireless scoreboards, nice retractable labeled bleachers, it will be state-of-the-art,” said Giles.
