POLSON — Lake County Search and Rescue, along with other agencies, are currently conducting recovery efforts for a missing man after receiving a call that someone had gone missing on Saturday.
Lake County Sheriff Don Bell says the man and his friend were swimming in the river near a point commonly called Buffalo Rapids.
While swimming, the victim jumped in the water from a cliff came back up, and exclaimed that the current was too strong and he was immediately pulled back under.
Sheriff Bell says that’s when the friend left the river to call law enforcement and the search and rescue efforts began.
The search has shifted to recovery efforts and the Sheriff’s Office -- along with Two Bear Air, and with the assistance of drones -- will continue those efforts on Monday.
Sheriff Bell also says that they have contacted the hydroelectric dam operators to lower the water in the area.
