The Ronan School District is providing updated information about a threat at the high school.
In a social media post, district officials say that on Wednesday, September 6, 2023, "a high school student made a comment to another student that was overheard by other students, stating he was going to shoot up the high school."
School administrators report they were unaware of the threat until Wednesday evening. At that time, they contacted law enforcement to relay the threat information.
The suspect was identified and contacted by law enforcement on Wednesday evening. He and his parent were told the student that he is not allowed on school property.
A threat assessment regarding the situation is continuing. There is currently an increased police presence at the middle and the high school.
Original information provided by the Ronan School District stated the threat had originated on social media.
School administration reports the high school volleyball games scheduled for Thursday night will still take place while the middle school football game will be rescheduled.

RONAN - The Ronan School District reports that law enforcement made contact on Wednesday night with a suspect who is suspected of making a social media threat.
The suspect is not allowed on school property, according to a social media post.

RONAN - A social media threat made against the Ronan School District is under investigation.
According to a statement, a "potential threat made by a high school student" was discovered and the Lake County Sheriff's Office is investigating.
Classes will be held on Thursday and there will be an additional law enforcement presence.
