Wildfire near Hot Springs burning 40 acres

HOT SPRINGS — The lightning-caused Welcome 1002 Fire southwest of the town of Hot Springs has now burned 40 acres and is 0% contained.

The blaze, which is being managed by a local Type 3 Incident Management Team, is burning in grass and timber.

No structures or other infrastructure are threatened and there are no evacuation notices.

There are 110 personnel assigned to the incident.

Fire managers report the fire was very active with interior tree torching on Tuesday.

The HS-1000 and HS-3000 roads are closed in the area of the blaze.
