When it comes to alcoholic coffee drinks, you’re either a fan or you’re not. The latest way to get a little “hair of the dog” comes in the form of Pabst Blue Ribbon Hard Coffee, a spiked coffee drink that has 5% ABV (alcohol by volume). Just so you know, 5% is more than a regular can of PBR, which clocks in at 4.8% ABV.

According to the product description, the coffee drink is flavored with “rich, creamy milk and vanilla.” As a fan of mixing coffee and alcohol, I’ve got to admit that this sounds pretty good to me! (It’s unclear, though, how much caffeine is found in each can, so you may not want to replace your daily espresso just yet.)

The popular beer company confirmed to VinePair via Twitter that the PBR Hard Coffee drink is only available in limited markets for the time being. You can find the drink in Pennsylvania, Maine, New Jersey, Florida and Georgia for now, and the company recommended using the locator tool on its website:

PBR Hard Coffee only recently became available for purchase, but early reviews from UnTappd claim the drink tastes like Yoo-hoo — yes, the milk chocolate drink you remember from the 1990s. Alas, PBR may have successfully tapped into its demographic of nostalgic millennials longing to drink an adult version of their favorite childhood beverages.

The initial reactions to PBR Hard Coffee seem to be mixed on Twitter. People either can’t wait to have access to this, like Twitter user @One_Mo_Wish who already wants it to become available in upstate New York:

Alternatively,  Twitter user @petrilli83, seemed grossed out by the thought of drinking boozy coffee out of a can:

If you’re among the folks who are interested in trying this, you may have to wait until this becomes more widely available to do so. Fortunately, PBR wasn’t the first brand to conjure up combining creamy coffee with alcohol!

Kahlúa also makes an espresso martini in a can. According to the product description, it’s made using using vodka, Kahlúa coffee liqueur and roasted Arabica coffee — all conveniently packaged for easy sipping without pouring into a martini glass. No bartending skills required!

You could also try making your own boozy coffee beverage from scratch. This recipe from Bruno Mars’ spirits brand SelvaRey Rum shows that when it comes to changing how you take your morning coffee, a little rum goes a long way.

So, whether you pop open an all-new PBR or find another way to drink spiked coffee, there’s plenty of ways to get your caffeine buzz going this summer. Cheers to that!
