KALISPELL — Flathead County Health officials will strongly endorse social distancing guidelines as they follow Gov. Bullock’s phased reopening.

Flathead County Public Health Officer Hillary Hanson said health officials will be in constant contact with businesses and restaurants in the coming days. She said extra health department staff will be on hand this weekend giving advice and coming up with ideas to ensure public safety and proper social distancing.

Hanson expects Flathead County to follow Gov. Bullock's phase one guidelines, but will enact stricter regulations in Flathead County if they see a sudden spike in cases.

She said it’s up to community residents to keep following recommended CDC guidelines as phase one moves forward.

“So, we still need to be masking, social distancing, staying home when we’re sick, staying away from the vulnerable populations," said Hanson. "Businesses are only going to succeed and we’re only going to be able to move forward if everybody does their part.”

Hanson adds Flathead health officials will continue communication with local hospitals on a daily basis as the plan moves forward.
