Taylor Swift has been busy during the pandemic. After the surprise release of a new album, “folklore,” in July, Swift kept the creative juices flowing and made yet another surprise album, “evermore,” which dropped Dec. 11.
After writing and recording two new albums in 2020, you’d think she wouldn’t have time for any other new endeavors this year. But Swift is surprising fans once again, this time by launching a merch line that includes jewelry. It complements her new music and also celebrates her 31st birthday, which was Dec. 13.
The jewelry lineup includes a ring and a pair of earrings that can be purchased on her website. But, beware, they will take six to eight weeks to ship, so it won’t work for holiday gifting.
Choose from the “arcade ring” ($35), which features a trendy open-ended design. The alloy ring features gilson fire blue opals and cubic zirconia crystals and is adjustable to fit a wide range of finger sizes.
Swift’s “opal eyes” earring set ($30) has a starburst design that features gilson fire blue opal. (On “ivy,” a track on “evermore,” Swift sings, “your opal eyes are all I wish to see.”)
Swift’s clothing line for “Folklore” has already landed some big-name fans (with supermodels like Karli Kloss and fellow singers like Kelsea Ballerini rocking her “folklore”-branded cardigan, which matches the one she dons at the end of the video for “cardigan”), so we expect that her jewelry line will soon have similar cult status as well.
The famed cardigan is still available amongst the merch on her website, though it won’t ship for 10-12 weeks. At $49, it’s a fashionable way to stay warm and show your love of Taylor Swift at the same time.
The “bluest skies the darkest gray” pullover references a track on “evermore” that features rock band The National. Lead singer Matt Berninger sings the lyric, “Did I paint your bluest skies the darkest grey?” which fans say is a callback to Swift’s 2010 song “Dear John” (from her album “Speak Now”), on which she sings, “you paint me a blue sky/and go back and turn it to rain.”
The pullover features an image of Swift with her staple look for 2020, a simple braid and unfussy fringe bangs.
