MISSOULA — A man is facing charges for allegedly shooting his girlfriend in downtown Missoula early on Saturday.
Johnny Shipp is being charged with possession of drugs and partner assault after he was seen leaving a party with his girlfriend -- apparently taking her to the hospital for a gunshot injury.
Missoula Police say they received a report of a female at the hospital with a gunshot wound to the knee.
When officers arrived they found Shipp, who was in possession of cocaine.
Shipp also allegedly admitted to doing cocaine and other drugs at the party, which was in the 300 block East Front Street.
Court documents state witnesses told police they heard a gunshot, and remember hearing Shipp say he accidentally shot the woman.
The woman told police Shipp -- who is being held on $20,000 bond – accidentally shot her.
