THOMPSON FALLS – Authorities have released the names of the two people who died in a Saturday crash near Plains.

Sanders County Deputy Coroner Greg Davis identified the victims as Gavin Armstrong, Jr, 35 and Jessica Timlick, 35, both of Hot Springs.

Davis said the couple recently moved to Hot Springs.

Both of the victims died of blunt force trauma after their vehicle slammed into a rock cliff face.

The Montana Highway Patrol reports that around 12:45 a.m. on Saturday, the couple in a Jeep Grand Cherokee were driving westbound on Montana Highway 28 when the driver failed to negotiate a turn. The driver then over-corrected and the vehicle collided with a rock cliff face, ejecting the passenger onto the roadway.

MHP says the victims were not wearing seatbelts and that alcohol, drugs and speed are all considered factors in this crash.
