The Bitterroot National Forest reports a trail near Sula is impassable due to tree debris created by an avalanche this past winter.
Discover Bitterroot National Forest posted this message on their Facebook page Thursday morning.
Warm Springs Trail #103 on the Darby/Sula Ranger District is currently impassable at mile post 5.0 from Crazy Creek Campground, due to an avalanche. As you can see in these photos, the trail is completely covered by a large debris flow which includes a mix of snow, rocks, and large trees.
The slide, which occurred earlier this spring, was recently discovered by a group of mountain bikers who reported the damage to Forest officials. The slide is also blocking access to Two Good Cabin, a rental cabin on the forest, located southwest of Sula, MT.
The trail will remain impassable until the debris is cleared by the Bitterroot Forest trail crew. For more information, contact the Darby/Sula Ranger District at 406-821-3913.
