HELENA — Montana Fish, Wildlife and Parks (FWP) has closed group use sites, including fishing piers to limit the spread of COVID-19.

The closure order covers all fishing piers at Montana state parks, fishing access sites and wildlife management areas due to the risk of high congregation.

State parks and fishing access sites and will remain open for day use, but public opportunities will be limited.

Seasonal closures are still in effect for Wildlife Management Areas until May 15.

Overnight camping will no longer be allowed but to accommodate current campers, campgrounds will be systematically closed with a 72-hour notice.

Visitor centers were already closed and those closures have been extended through April 10.

Bathrooms at sites that remain open may be limited.

FWP asks that people evaluate the fishing site or state park they’re visiting. If the parking lot is full, people are asked to consider another place to recreate at that time.
