POLSON — Lake County Public Health (LCPH) reported on Tuesday morning that it has officially moved into the next phase of COVID-19 vaccination.
People who fall into the Phase 1B category are now eligible to be vaccinated. However, LCPH noted in a social media post that “it receives a very limited amount of vaccine per week.”
People eligible for vaccinations under Phase 1B include those over the age of 70, American Indians at elevated risk for COVID-19, and people between the ages of 16 and 69 who have qualifying health conditions.
COVID-19 vaccination clinics are currently held on Wednesday mornings and Friday afternoons at LCPH. The agency is hoping to expand the hours in the coming weeks.
People looking to receive a COVID-19 vaccine must contact LCPH at (406) 883-7288 to schedule an appointment. If callers do not directly reach the receptionist, they are asked to leave a message and not to call repeatedly.
“We are being inundated with calls, Facebook messages and emails. We are returning messages and scheduling as quickly as we are able,” the social media post reads.
LCPH reports it is currently scheduled a couple of weeks out and that February will be reserved for those requiring their second dose of the COVID-19 vaccine.
