MISSOULA — Missoula County Public Schools will announce later this week whether they plan to reopen or continue with remote learning for the remainder of the school year.

The MCPS Board of Trustees will meet on Tuesday evening to discuss the pros and cons of their options and consider what’s best for students and staff.

The board will reconvene at 12 p.m. on Friday, May 1, and announce their final decision.

MCPS Superintendent Rob Watson has said that he recommends schools remain closed for the rest of the year, but in Montana’s Phased Reopen Plan, Gov. Steve Bullock says the decision is ultimately up to each school’s locally elected board of trustees.

Public comment will be shared with the Board of Trustees before any decisions are made.

Call 1-318-389-1907 and enter the PIN 851134962# to join the meeting to listen and make a public comment. Callers are asked to mute yourself as soon as you join the meeting. When it is time for public comment, you will be called on based on the last two digits in your telephone number.

Public comment can be made by typing into the Google Chat, calling in, or join the meeting and be recognized. You can join the Hangout Meet here. If you would like to watch the live stream of the board meeting, click here or click on the live stream posted on Facebook.
