Missoula Co. reports 132 weekend COVID-19 cases; 60th death

MISSOULA — The Missoula City-County Health Department (MCCHD) is reporting 132 newly confirmed COVID-19 cases were confirmed over the weekend.

MCCHD reports 48 new cases were confirmed on Saturday, 71 on Sunday, and 13 on Monday.

A 60th COVID-19 related death is also being reported in the Monday update. No further information is being released.

The number of active COVID-19 cases has fallen from 369 on Friday to 317.

Nine of the county's new cases are associated with the University of Montana.

A total of 7,243 COVID-19 cases has been confirmed in Missoula County including 6,866 recoveries and 60 COVID-19 related deaths.

The number of current COVID-19 hospitalizations in Missoula County was not available in the Monday update.

The average of daily new cases per 100,000 has dropped from 42 on Friday to 39.

The MCCHD goal is to bring that number down to 25/100,000 people for two consecutive weeks or more.

Missoula County health officials announced on Jan. 14that plans are in place to soon move to Phase 1B of COVID-19 vaccinations.
