MISSOULA — The Missoula City-County Health Department (MCCHD) on Monday reported 91 additional COVID-19 cases since the Friday update.
Missoula County reported 57 new COVID-19 cases Monday with 37 new cases reported on Saturday and 34 new cases reported Sunday. The totals show 128 newly active COVID-19 cases since the Friday update.
There are currently 548 active COVID-19 cases with more than 1,600 close contacts across Missoula County.
Five of the additional COVID-19 cases -- as well as 64 active cases -- are associated with the University of Montana.
Overall, local public health officials are reporting 1,675 cumulative cases.
There have been 1,119 recoveries and eight COVID-19 related deaths to date -- including one reported on Monday.
Nineteen people are hospitalized in Missoula County including 11 county residents.
MCCHD reports seeing similar demographic and exposure trends across active cases. Thirty percent of active cases are associated with people ages 20-to-29, while almost 30% of active cases now associated with people 50 years of age and older.
More than half of active cases were close contacts to already established cases (55%), while 39% of active cases are the result of community acquisition.
MCCHD issued a revised Public Health Order in regards to face masks as well as new restrictions on senior facilities on Oct. 15.

MCCHD is urging people to continue practicing health and safety behaviors:
- Wash your hands thoroughly and frequently.
- Keep at least 6 feet of safe space between you and others as the environment permits.
- Wear a face covering that's fully sealed around your nose and mouth.
- Remember that physical spacing does not replace face coverings - these are tools to be used together for maximum efficacy and safety.
