MISSOULA — While COVID-19 cases at the Montana State Prison have forced a lockdown, corrections officials in Missoula continue to follow the same guidelines that have kept their positive numbers down.
There have only been two positive cases at the Missoula County jail so far, according to Missoula County Sheriff’s Office spokeswoman Jeannette Smith.
She added that they are continuing prescreening as people come into the jail.
Back in July a prescreen of a recently admitted inmate identified the COVID-19 virus and allowed jail staff to isolate that individual.
The jail also stopped admitting nonviolent offenders to keep their jail population numbers down to prevent spreading the virus.
Several COVID-19 cases were reported earlier this week at the Lake County Detention Center in Polson.
