Montana COVID-19 cases jump to 27, new cases seen in Gallatin and Silver Bow counties

(NOTE: One of the new Gallatin County cases, the patient in her 50s, was incorrectly listed as male in an earlier version of this story; updated with new information from the Gallatin City-County Health Department.)

According to the latest update on Montana's COVID-19 tracking map, there are now 27 cases in the state.

Initial information from the map shows an increase from 4 to 7 cases in Gallatin County, and one new case in Silver Bow County.

The new cases in Gallatin County are:

  • A woman in her 50s
  • Two men in their 60s

The prior four Gallatin County cases are two Gallatin County residents, one a man in his 40s, and the other a man in his 20s. There is also a confirmed case in a New Hampshire man in his 20s, and in a California man in his 60s. All four are in Gallatin County, self-quarantining.

The new case listed for Silver Bow County is a woman aged 60 - 69. The other confirmed case in Silver Bow is in a man in his 50s.

On Saturday night, City of Bozeman Communications Coordinatior Melody Mileur released the following information on behalf of the Gallatin City-County Health Department regarding the three new COVID-19 cases in Gallatin County:

As of 7:30 PM March 21, 2020 we can confirm that there are three new cases of Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19) in Gallatin County, for a total of 7 confirmed cases. Public health nurses are working with those impacted to reduce the risks of additional cases. We will release more information when we have it.

We understand that the Montana Department of Public Health & Human Services (DPHHS) is showing all new cases as male. We know that one of the cases is female. We understand the DPHHS will be updating the information on their map [montana.maps.arcgis.com] on March 22, 2020.
