Chances are you are home, hiding out as the potential spread of COVID-19 remains a concern.
So, during this time of uncertainty and stress, health professionals are cautioning those at home for the foreseeable future to take part in "self-care."
International life coach and author, Dr. Rana Al-Falaki, spoke with MTN News by video conference way from the United Kingdom to give some helpful advice for taking care of yourself during self-quarantine.
Al-Falaki says if you are staying at home, then be home.
"Which means try not to get bogged down with social media. Try not to get bogged down with watching the news, because all that’s going to do is make you feel fearful and powerless," she said.
She says while at home, do activities that take your mind off the virus and the uncertainty of it.
FInd something that makes you calm, or try a vision board, or working out in the yard. Set up a safe and comfortable place in your home to meditate and relax from the stresses the worry the virus can bring.
"‘You will see everybody as the enemy and everything is the enemy and the more things you look at, the more you will worry and feel fearful," she said.
Al-Falaki also cautions people to start to visualize how they've changed and what they've learned about themselves that they can take with them into the future, when the threat of the virus has passed.
Because as we all are hoping, it eventually passes.
