KALISPELL — A Kalispell man is behind bars after leading law enforcement on a pursuit Thursday night in the Flathead.

Arthur Lee Palmer, 34, of Kalispell is being held at the Flathead County Detention Center “pending numerous felony charges,” according to the Flathead County Sheriff’s Office.

The incident began at approximately 9:45 p.m. when deputies began pursuing a vehicle in the Evergreen area that had been reported stolen.

Palmer crashed the vehicle on Rail Park Drive but was able to continue driving. He then entered US Highway 2, driving eastbound in the westbound lanes.

The Sheriff’s Office reports Palmer eventually stopped near the intersection of US Highway 2 and Montana Highway 35 and then fled the scene on foot.

He was taken into custody a short time later.

Palmer was arrested on a parole violation and could now also be facing other felony charges, according to a news release.

The Sheriff’s Office is issuing a reminder that people should not leave their vehicles unattended or running while unlocked.

The Montana Highway Patrol and the Kalispell Police Department were also involved in the pursuit.
