COLUMBIA FALLS – Travelers will need to pack their patience if they have plans to travel anywhere near Glacier National Park this week.
The Montana Department of Transportation is chip sealing US Highway 2 in the Bad Rock Canyon area, three miles east of Nucleus Avenue in Columbia Falls.
The work will begin in the early morning around 4 a.m. or 5 a.m. to reduce impacts to travelers later in the day. MDT says to expect long delays of anywhere from 45 to 60 minutes, with reduced speeds of 35 miles per hour.
MDT is chip sealing Going to the Sun Road on the west end of the park on Wednesday between 6 a.m. and 8 a.m. and long delays of upwards to 45 minutes are expected.
State transportation officials are encouraging travelers to seek an alternate route while the construction is taking place.
