SOMERS – The ballots for the Somers-Lakeside fire department bond request went out in the mail on Monday.
The $4 million bond request would fund a new Somers Fire Hall which is over 60 years old.
If the bond request is approved, the new firehouse would make room for six trucks and would also have a community space, and a trustee room.
The bond needs more than 30% of voters in the district to vote in order for the election to be valid.
A community information event to discuss the bond will be held on Wednesday, July 17 in the Lakeside Station beginning at 7 p.m.
The ballots are due back by 8 p.m. on July 30. Click here for more information about the bond request.
