MISSOULA – University of Montana students are hitting the streets this week to gather important data which may help the City of Missoula tackle the affordable housing problem.
Missoula leaders are trying to come up with a Housing Policy which can address a number of challenges impacting the city’s availability of affordable housing.
With home prices climbing, and land development costs for single and multi-family units going up, the city hopes to tackle issues which are pricing many buyers, and renters, out of the market.
Now, the city is engaging UM students to help with surveys for the Office of Housing and Community Development.
Students will begin canvassing neighborhoods this week, starting in the Southgate Triangle Neighborhood.
The students will gather data and feedback which will then be compiled into information to drive development of the Housing Policy.
The students will continue to canvass these neighborhoods through the end of the month.
- March 9 and 10 – Southgate Triangle neighborhood
- March 16 and 17 – River Road neighborhood
- March 23 and 24 – Northside/Westside neighborhoods
- March 30 and 31 – Franklin to the Fort neighborhood
