MISSOULA — The delays continued Friday on Interstate 90 as commuters and travelers cope with miles of resurfacing work on the freeway.
Montana Department of Transportation crews have been busy working on a large project to "chip seal". or resurface the entire length of the interstate through the Missoula Valley.
At times, backups have stretched all the way from East Missoula to Frenchtown -- impacting traffic in both directions.
But conditions improved somewhat Friday, as eastbound traffic was moving smoothly, and westbound traffic was moving, although more slowly.
MDT says this week was the bulk of the chip seal in and around Missoula west to the Wye. The good news is, most of that work will be complete.
However, more delays will be expected this month as the resurfacing will continue from East Missoula through Turah.
