MISSOULA — Knowing they have some big shoes to fill, the Missoula County Health Board has approved the plan, process and requirements to replace retiring health officer Ellen Leahy.

The board will be posting the job listing next week. The application process and interview schedule will last through the winter.

The goal is to have the new person hired by the end of March or early April so they can work with Leahy before her June retirement.

Board members are casting a wide net in the search for talent, and discussed the educational level and experience they're looking for in finding a candidate qualified to run a complex health department.

The salary range is between $130,000 and $150,000 a year. It's hoped that the new health officer will be on the job by late Spring.
