MISSOULA — The Missoula Rural Fire District (MRFD) is asking for your help gathering information.

A new initiative, Community Connect, will give you a chance to give potentially lifesaving information about you and your family to first responders.

MRFD says information on the website, like the number of family members and health concerns, will help them better prepare when responding to an emergency.

You can enter info like the number of children and pets, medical conditions, and access issues, and firefighters will be able to see that right in their vehicles.

MRFD Lieutenant Eric Huleatt says when firefighters respond to a situation like a house fire or medical emergency, that information isn't always readily available.

But with this new resource, they'll be able to know exactly what they're walking into.

"We want people to understand this is safe. Any information they can provide us will help us provide a better service to them,” Lt. Huleatt said. “It's going to save us time, it's going to help us be better prepared so that we can do our job better once we arrive."

Lt. Huleatt wants people to know the site is encrypted similar to online banking, so your private information will stay safe. You can fill out a form on the Missoula Rural Fire District Facebook page or on the MRFD website.
