MISSOULA — Mountain Line got news of a $1 million grant to purchase two more electric transit buses, adding more of the new coaches to the transit agency's growing fleet on Tuesday.
The Montana Department of Environmental Quality announced it was awarding the $1 million grant so Mountain Line could buy the buses and charging stations.
Mountain Line put its first electric buses on the streets of Missoula just a year ago.
Once the two additional buses begin operating next year, Mountain Line will have eight electrical buses in service.
The money comes from the new Montana Clean Transportation Program, which is funded by the massive national settlement where Volkswagen was accused of using equipment to bypass emissions tests.
