MISSOULA — Organizers of Missoula's St. Patrick's Day parade said on Saturday morning that the annual event is canceled due to lack of participants and weather.

The parade is a signature event for Missoula's Irish-American community, usually falling on the Saturday closest to St. Patrick's Day.

But with events being canceled left and right because of the coronavirus outbreak, people started to circulate word Thursday that the parade was being called off.

But organizers on Saturday seeing lack of floats entering the parade decide it is best to cancel.

Patrick Toomey, President of Missoula's Ancient Order of Hibernians, tells KPAX News the parade is canceled.
