The bubbly and enthusiastic star from Netflix's Queer Eye comes out that they live with HIV, in a New York Times interview.

Johnathan Van Ness, 32, had said in the interview that they were scared of being vulnerable with the public.

"It’s hard for me to be as open as I want to be when there are certain things I haven’t shared publicly,” JVN told the New York Times, “these are issues that need to be talked about.”

Van Ness in their early 20's had gone through addiction to drugs and sex, and after fainting while doing clients hair, they had gone to Planned Parenthood to get test, the results were HIV positive.

They had even gone to Instagram to post about the fear of being vulnerable, the caption read, "Having the opportunity to write my book and share my story with you is the most important opportunity I’ve ever had. The book speaks to some extremely difficult times but it’s also filled with my humor, joy and voice & I can’t wait to share it with you fully. Thanks so much for your support so far, it means the world."

Van Ness's book "Over the Top: A Raw Journey to Self-Love" will be available to purchase September 24, and is available to pre-order.
