Montana Grizzlies far from decided on running back

Most of the time the talk about the Montana offense centers around two guys -- Samuel Akem and Dalton Sneed -- but what about the run game?

Last year, freshman Adam Eastwood got most of the carries after Jeremy Calhoun went down to injury after a serving a suspension. Eastwood played in 11 games and racked up 514 yards on 125 attempts, an average of 4.1 yards per carry but only 46 yards per game.

Earlier this year transfer Marcus Knight was brought on from Citrus College where he had 912 yards in 11 games, averaging 82.9 yards per game. While Knight did impress in the Spring Game, coach Bobby Hauck said they aren't close to making a decision on the starting back yet.

"Wide open," Hauck said of the competition. "Well, they've been in no pads, so there hasn't been anything for those guys to do just yet, but that's wide open and we need a list of those guys to contribute, so hopefully they can all hold in protection, see things well and get some yards."
