MISSOULA — A fourth positive COVID-19 case has been identified during the booking process at the Missoula County Detention Center.

Missoula County Sheriff’s Office Public Information Officer Jeannette Smith says the case was found after following “pre-established screening and health assessment during booking.”

The person – who Smith says told staff of a previous positive COVID-19 test -- was isolated and tested.

Smith noted that the information provided by the inmate prompted jail staff to initiate pre-established operating guidelines including isolating the inmate and initiating a COVID-19 test.

The inmate will remain isolated in the detention facility, monitored closely, and treated by detention center nursing staff, according to a news release.
