BILLINGS — The Billings Police Department is seeking the public's help in identifying a suspect in the death of a man shot outside a church.

Manuel J. Martinez, 30, was shot multiple times on Nov. 30 at about 8:50 p.m. outside the Evangelical United Methodist Church near the corner of Broadwater Avenue and Fourth Street West.

The shooting was reported after a motorist told police he drove over the body as it was lying in the road. Police said they do not believe the driver was involved in the shooting.

Police said in a press release issued Thursday that Martinez was known to frequent the church where he was killed. A possible suspect was seen fleeing the area on foot immediately after the shooting, police said.

That person is described as a male, slender, around 6' tall and wearing a black hoody, dark pants, white shoes, carrying a backpack and wearing a hat, the press release states.

Billings Police detectives ask that if you have any information regarding the murder of Manuel Martinez or who have any residential surveillance cameras in this area -- to include those streets near Evangelical United Methodist Church at 345 Broadwater -- to contact the Billings Police Department at (406) 657-8473 or call 9-1-1.

Those who wish to remain anonymous can also contact Crime Stoppers at (406) 245-6660.
