Missoula's Big Dipper ready to serve again

MISSOULA — Retail businesses are opening back up across the state and Missoula's iconic Big Dipper ice cream shop is ready to serve.

Big Dipper has spent the past couple of weeks doing online pick-up and delivery. On Friday, the location on South Higgins Avenue reopened the ice cream order window to the public.

Retail manager Reese Hoeg says they have a lot of safety measures in place. There are blue boxes on the ground for a socially distanced line and signs say only six people should share a table.

"Obviously everybody wants to be safe, and make sure that nobody is spreading any unwanted illness," Hoeg said. "But at the same time, people still want ice cream. People still want to be able to go outside and enjoy their lives. It's taken a lot of communication, and a lot of trust in the community as well. "

Hoeg added that online orders are still available, but they're excited to see the line forming outside once again.
