MISSOULA — New information has been released about an incident that drew a police presence to the 3500 block of Clark Fork Way in Missoula on Friday morning.
Local law enforcement received information from an outside agency about 42-year-old Dal Segall, who was being sought by the Flathead County District Court after failing to show up for a sentencing hearing.
Missoula Police Department spokeswoman Whitney Bennett says that officers found the man in the 3500 block of Mullan Road.
A short foot pursuit ensued, ending in the 3500 block of Clark Fork Way, behind Walmart. Segall pulled out a gun when officers arrived and shot himself.
Segall was taken to a local hospital, where he was later pronounced deceased.
The Montana Division of Criminal Investigation (DCI) will be conducting the primary investigation into the shooting.
MPD notes there is no threat to the public.

There is an increased law enforcement presence in the area, which is behind the Walmart on Mullan Road.
Missoula Police Department spokeswoman Whitney Bennett said that there is no threat to the public at this time.
